ESNA guidelines for the safe administration of buccal midazolam.
ESNA would like to introduce the oromucosal midazolam competency checklist. It is a helpful tool to guide reviewers and their caregivers through the process of understanding a person’s seizures, their emergency protocol, and the importance of safe and practical administration of oromucosal midazolam. It can be completed at any time, useful for carer supervision and appraisal. Also a useful tool for CQC review.
Please refer to the person’s protocol/emergency plan first. These videos are for information ONLY.
Face to Face clinical training by a Nurse or medic with a minimum of 2 years hands on experience in Epilepsy care and teaching is recommended as best practice, as per ESNA guidelines.
